The Promise and Dilemma of Satisfactory Life Care

Call for Papers/Abstracts

Data released by the United Nations show that with the development of the global economy, the structures of society and family in many areas have been transformed. The increase of the elderly population is an inevitable social phenomenon. Take Taiwan as an Example, it is expected to become an elderly society in 2018, and further an ultra-aged one in 2026. To solve the problems brought about by this transformation, the government saw the need to provide better care services for the elderly people and hence established the Ten-year Long Term Care Program and passed the Long Term Services Act in 2007 and 2016 respectively.

China and Hong Kong share the same situation with severe population aging. It is estimated that the number of people over 60 years old will have taken 1/5 of its total population by 2030. In some Southeast Asian countries with younger population, this situation is also believed to emerge sooner or later. Thus, issues related to the aging population have become the main topics of research for both the academic sector and the industry.

Based on this point of view, the meeting intends to gather information about the hospice care for the elderly, the healthcare management industry, and the new thoughts in healthcare protection from professionals at the industry, government, and academic levels. We are confident that we will make the meeting an open and interesting forum for sharing experiences on these topics, and furthermore developing mutual cooperation among different countries.
